If a £20,000 wedding conjures up some uneasy feelings, hopefully this list can help you with your search for budget friendly venues. Planning your dream wedding on a budget can sometimes feel like an impossible feat, however with a little know-how and compromise, you can still achieve that fairy tale wedding. Cornwall is blessed with some of the most picturesque landscapes in the country which means even on a budget, you can still land a beautiful venue at an attractive price.
Choose an out of season date
June, July, August and September will likely be more of a costly option when booking with a venue as these are the most sought after dates. January, March, April and November are usually better bets for bagging a cheaper alternative when booking.
It‘s also worth considering the day in which you plan your wedding to take place on. With the most prolific wedding day being a Saturday, prices are going to be considerably higher. Sundays and weekdays can be a money saver however.
With out of season dates comes the chance to negotiate with vendors, venues will be keen to secure business out of season therefore allowing you the upper hand. Don't be afraid to ask for freebies if a venue cannot budge on their overhead costs.
Other ways in which you can cut costs is by providing your own furniture and decorations - these can include balloons, cake stands, banners and chair covers. Book your venue on a ‘dry hire’ basis and provide your own catering, you may also consider limiting the amount of guests at your meal to lower the cost further, although some venues require a minimum guest count.
A typical venue cost for a wedding is around £5,000 - £6,000, however with a little planning and compromise on dates, its possible to lower this price to around £2000 - £3000 depending on any extras you decide to have included.
